WDR: 150 Years of the Telephone
Around 150 years ago, the invention of the telephone marked the beginning of a new era in communication.
The telephone fundamentally revolutionized communication: people could now speak directly with each other over long distances.
To mark the anniversary, Prof. Peter Jax spoke on WDR 5 Morgenecho about the significance of the invention. In the interview, he emphasized that the ability to communicate directly in real time was a “very significant development.” Even today, research continues on new technologies and improvements in telephony.
The telephone has evolved from a simple device into a complex digital communication platform—and it continues to shape how people around the world stay connected.
