Abstract

This contribution presents new echo control algorithms which combine an adaptive echo canceller with an additional adaptive FIR filter in the sending path. The additional FIR filter spectrally shapes the sending signal such that the residual far end echoes will be masked by the near end speech and ambient noise signals. If two or more microphones are employed the additional FIR filter will also attenuate near end acoustic noise and reverberation of the near end speaker. The echo shaping approach leads to implementations with reduced computational complexity.
