Abstract
This contribution presents a framework for combined noise and acoustic echo reduction which is based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) short time spectral amplitude estimation and soft-decision weighting. This framework is derived by means of quadratic cost functions and allows to use two separate signal estimators, one for near end single talk and one for double talk. The soft-decision weighting of both estimators is based on the activity of the near end and the far end speakers. We derive the estimation algorithm and compare this system to a more conventional approach which uses only one estimator.Download
