Student Assistant: Support of the Development of Real-Time Signal Processing Algorithms for Active Noise Cancellation Heaphones and Earbuds

Area of Work: Active Noise Cancellation, Telecommunications, Heaphones, Hardware

Tools: Electronics, DSP, Audio Measurements, Matlab, C

Description:

Modern heaphones and earbuds have become ever more powerful signal processing platforms, often including multiple microphones on each side as well as additional sensors like accelerometers. At IKS, we research how to utilize these sensors for new telecommunication as well as active noise cancellation applications.

We're  currently looking for a student assistent, who supports us in developing and testing these algorithms. One part of the job can be acoustic measurements with headphones and earbuds, to characterise their acoustics as well as to evaluate algorithms later on with a real hardware system. The measurements would be done with state-of-the-art headphones / earbuds and a real-time digital signal processing platform. The job could also include real-time implementation of algorithms on this hardware platform. The implementation is partly done in hardware specific formats as well as in C.

Your Profile:

Necessary for the job is interest in real-time audio signal processing as well as in hardware-oriented work. Experience with electronics / audio / hardware would be a good basis for the job. Solid knowledge in either Matlab or C is required. A basic understanding of audio signal processing is also important.
