Institute Trip | Bonn

This year, our institute trip took us to Bonn.

Our first destination was the House of History, which recently reopened following an extensive renovation. During a guided tour, we gained fascinating insights into German history from the post-war period to the present day.

After a refreshing picnic along the Rhine, we continued on to Villa Hammerschmidt. There, we received a very special welcome – the red carpet had been rolled out for us. During a guided tour, we had the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of this historic building and learn more about its eventful history and its current use.

Our final walk through the former government district provided us with many insights and anecdotes from Bonn’s time as the capital of West Germany. It was a fitting way to round off the day with some interesting perspectives into the city’s political history.
