The Spherical Harmonics Domain provides a mathematical method to encode spatial sound alongside its direction of arrival. Such Higher Order Ambisonics recordings are mostly realized using spherical microphone arrays. The acoustic recording is composed of a directional and a diffuse soundfield component.
In this master's thesis methods were presented and examined, that allow for a decomposition of the spatial audio recording back into its diffuse and directional parts. Thereby, methods estimating the direction of arrival of impinging sound were explored. Concepts that aim to infer room acoustical parameters from Higher Order Ambisonics recordings and possibilities for respatialization of a newly arranged acoustical scene were presented further.
