At the end of the summer term the colloquium Communication Technology took place as in the years before.
At this year's institute excursion we entered deep into the history of the Aachen textile industry. With an extensive tour of the Textile Museum Tuchwerk-Aachen, the participants were informed about the industrial past and present of the textile production.
New interactive 360° Video for YouTube
In the course of our cooperation with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra, a new interactive 360 ° video with spatial sound has been created. The video is now published on YouTube.
Block Seminar "The engineer as manager"
This summer term the block seminar named "The engineer as manager" took place during the excursion week. Since 2009, this seminar, which is highly attractive for students, has been offered by Dr. Joachim Schläper in the Institute of Communication Systems twice a year.
Best Paper by Young Scientists Award for Souradip Saha
At the International Conference on Military Communications and Information Systems 2018 in Warsaw, our graduate Souradip Saha, M.Sc., has been awarded with the Award Best Paper by Young Scientists for his contribution named “Bit Interleaved Polar Coded Modulation with Iterative Decoding”.
Seminar Selected Topics in Rurberg
The seminar Selected Topics in Communications Engineering is jointly organized by IENT and IKS. This year, participating students worked out different aspects of the topic "Scene Analysis for Audio-Visual Content".
Research assistants from IKS attended ICASSP (IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing) in Calgary, AB, Canada between April 15 and April 20 2018 to present results of their research.
Invited by the Aachen Symphony Orchestra, we contributed to the Future Lab Gala this year. The challenge was to inspire the Aachen audience for the subject of communication systems.
