Abstract

For natural reproduction of binaural recordings, for example in spatial audio teleconferences, listeners need to be able to move their heads in the reproduced sound scene and might prefer loudspeaker playback. To this end, we present a novel combination of binaural cue adaptation (BCA) and adaptive crosstalk cancellation (ACTC). BCA enables listener head movements and ACTC enables loudspeaker reproduction of a binaural signal. To investigate the system performance, measurements using a real-time prototype in a real room are objectively evaluated in terms of binaural cues. Our results indicate that this approach is capable of creating ear signals with binaural cues matching those of a reference measurement.
